Our approach combines intellectual rigor with context and reflection. Students don't just absorb information—they learn to question it, connect it, and apply it to the challenges that matter to them and their communities. Equitable Lottery System

Diverse student body on campus
Our lottery ensures equitable access to excellent education for all Portland families.

Meridian serves 400 students in grades 6-12 at our Portland campus. When applications exceed available spaces, we conduct a random lottery ensuring fair access to all interested families. No entrance exams, interviews, or selective criteria—every applicant has an equal chance. This commitment to equity reflects our core mission and values.

Siblings of current students and children of staff receive enrollment priority. Following priority placements, remaining spaces are filled by random lottery. Families not selected receive waitlist positions and are notified if spaces become available.

Application Requirements

Applications require basic student information, current academic records, completed application form, and any relevant IEP or 504 plans if applicable. No essays, test scores, or recommendations are required for admission—we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn in our environment regardless of prior academic performance.

Once enrolled, students receive support through advisory programs, counseling services, academic interventions, and comprehensive programs spanning lower, middle, and upper school levels.

Campus Tours and Information Sessions

We strongly encourage families to visit campus, attend information sessions, and experience Meridian firsthand before applying. Tours provide opportunities to observe classes, meet teachers and students, see our facilities, and ask questions about curriculum, culture, and programs.

Information sessions explain our educational philosophy, review the admissions process, discuss financial assistance for enrichment activities, and answer family questions. Sessions occur monthly October through January.

Financial Accessibility

As a public charter school, Meridian charges no tuition. We provide financial assistance for field trips, athletics, arts programs, and other enrichment opportunities ensuring all students can participate fully regardless of family income. Transportation support may be available for families facing barriers.

We're committed to removing financial obstacles to excellent education. Families shouldn't hesitate to apply due to financial concerns—we work with every family to ensure their student can participate fully in school life.
